The Astronomical Observatory (OA-UNI) is a collaborative project between the Faculty of Sciences of the National University of Engineering and the Peruvian Geophysical Institute (IGP) that allow research to be carried out in the areas of stellar photometry, low-resolution stellar spectroscopy, astronomical polarimetry, expoplanets, as well as the observation of occasional astronomical events such as supernovae and stellar occultations.
Likewise, this infrastructure allows supporting the introductory courses in astronomy that are currently taught in the FC-UNI undergraduate course with observational practices for students in their final years. The telescope was installed on January 9, 2015 by personnel from the IGP, the UNI, the UNI Astronomy Group and the Huancayo Observatory.
